Jean Houston often relates one of the enduring myths from the Middle Ages, The Wedding of Sir Gawain and Dame Ragnell, which centers around the question "What do women want?" In the myth, and perhaps in our times as well, the correct answer to that question is sovereignty. When the word is stripped of its layers of masculine overlay -- usually images of kings with huge treasuries and absolute power spring to mind -- sovereign simply means 'the freedom to choose'. It is the opposite of subjugation.
These are interesting times for feminine leadership. The earth is thirsty for women's wisdom and creativity. Many women are feeling a strong call to offer their gifts and resources in service to a better world.... and then realize they will need to create a whole new paradigm of 'leadership' in order to step into their passions. Many of the existing models of leadership are linear, heirarchical, patriarchal, counter-intuitive and uncomfortable for women.
How can women lead in an authentic way?
Kathe's newest workshop is a guided labyrinth walk through the complex terrain of feminine leadership, exploring the edges of creative impulse and persistent resistance on both a personal and collective level. She believes we each hold a piece of the puzzle and that when we come together to share our wisdom, a clear blueprint for a new paradigm of feminine leadership naturally emerges.
